She Usually Gets the Last Laugh Wendy Liebman's unique joke-telling style has put her in the forefront of today's up and coming comics. It's the typical set-up and punch line delivery, but followed by an almost subliminal afterthought. Example: "I'm a writer...I write checks..." (and then comes the topper) "...mostly fiction". You can experience the Long Island native for yourself when she makes her local headlining debut at Caroline's this week. Liebman's
humor has garnered her the 1997 American Comedy Award for Funniest Female
Standup. She starred in her own HBO comedy special last fall and has guested
for Jay Leno and Rosie O'Donnell. On May 1st, Liebman will make her fourth
appearance on the David Letterman show.
And the busy comedienne is also hosting the 40th annual New York Emmy Awards next Sunday at the Marriott Marquis.
